Founded in 1975, COMHAR is a nonprofit organization that offers support services for individuals with developmental disabilities, mental health concerns and physical limitations. It provides various behavioral health, mental retardation and HIV/AIDS programs throughout Greater Philadelphia. The organization s behavioral health program includes psychiatric evaluation; social history and assessment; psychological testing; individual, group and family psychotherapy; and psychotropic medication assessment and monitoring services. COMHAR administers Community Living Room, which is a nationally acclaimed psychiatric rehabilitation day program that features workshops on illness management, risk prevention, daily living skills, expression, relationship, sexuality, goal-setting and decision making. The organization also serves individuals with cerebral palsy, physical handicaps, and hearing and vision impairments through its community-based residences. COMHAR is headquartered in Philadelphia.
