CCS provides storage for loaded containers and trucks empty containers to port and rail facilities. The company purchases and sells new and used containers and specialized equipment. The company provides barge transportation through its affiliate companies. Columbia Container Services, a Columbia Group company, acquired the operating assets of Palmer Industries Incorporated in 2003. The current principals of Columbia Container Services are also investors in Columbia Coastal Transport, a container barge carrier serving ports on the United States Atlantic coast since 1990, and Columbia Intermodal, the trucking arm of the Columbia Group. CCS is headquartered in Newark, N.J.
