Coastal Gunite Construction Company was established in 1983 to provide owners and engineers with technically capable and competent commercial shotcrete construction services. (Shotcrete is concrete sprayed from a nozzle.) Today, Coastal Gunite provides these services from its two locations in Cambridge, Md., and Bradenton, Fla. Coastal Gunite pioneered the use of fiber reinforced, silica-fume modified shotcrete pier rehabilitation for the United States Navy, Virginia Port Authority and Norfolk-Southern Corporation while repairing nine large-ship piers in the Port of Hampton Roads, Va., as well as oil piers in Nassau, Bahamas and Bermuda. Large sanitary and storm sewers and aqueducts have been rehabilitated by Coastal Gunite from St. Louis to New York, Washington D.C., Atlanta and Tampa, Fla. Coastal Gunite is also pre-qualified as a bridge repair contractor in 20 states and has completed shotcrete rehabilitation to such landmark structures as the Chesapeake Bay Bridge in Annapolis, Md., Bonner Bridge and Wright Memorial Bridge on North Carolina's Outer Banks, Howard Frankland Bridge over Tampa Bay and the historic Venetian Causeway in Miami.
