The company began on May 3, 1913, when five California entrepreneurs invested $100 apiece to set up one of America's first commercial-scale liquid bleach factories. In 1914, they named their product Clorox bleach. Its well-known product brands include 409, Armor All, Clorox, Liquid-Plumr, Oxi-Magic, Pine-Sol, SOS and Tilex. Other products include Fresh Step and Scoop Away cat litters, Kingsford charcoal briquettes, Hidden Valley and KC Masterpiece dressings and sauces, Brita water-filtration systems and Glad bags, wraps and containers. The Clorox Company is headquartered in Bentonville, Ark.
