Located in Alamogordo, N.M., Alamo Senior Center offers a social environment to more than 60 senior citizens and their spouses. The center provides a variety of services, which includes support, education, recreation, nutrition and entertainment services for elderly persons in Alamogordo and the surrounding area. Its meals on wheels program serve breakfast, lunch and dinner menu, as well as special noon and weekend meals. Additionally, the institute provides transportation on scheduled runs to the center and home and for shopping, doctor appointments, beauty shop, post office and to pay bills. Alamo Senior Center also offers various recreational programs, such as arts and crafts, ceramics lapidary, dances, billiards, art, chorus, cards, puzzles, games and reading material. Its special education programs include Spanish classes, beginning band, poetry club and insurance programs. The center organizes various health activities, such as pressure screening, health films, health fairs, and senior olympics.
