Century Materials, founded in 1973 and based in Tempe, Ariz., provides road base, asphalt concrete and ready mix concrete to valley contractors in the region. The company is a subsidiary of Nesbitt Contracting Company that has been involved in heavy construction work for more than 50 years. The holding company also operates Arizona Pavement Profiling, a company that provides build and repair services to maintain heavy traffic loads on municipal streets, highways and airports. Arizona Pavement Profiling uses advanced technology to perform in-place recycling of asphalt pavements. This process permits the milling of deteriorated asphalt pavement, re-screening, crushing and re-laying of material back on the roadway in one seamless operation. The process eliminates the need to develop roadside material sources and heavy trucking of material. It also reduces the amount of new liquid asphalt needed for pavement operations.
