Brookside Animal Hospital was established in 1960 at the corner of 12th Street and Wall Avenue in Ogden, Utah by Dr. Eric Isaacson and Dr. I.G. Liljenquist. Designed to accommodate both large and small animals, the facility originally included horse and cow chutes to the west of the building. Following the untimely death of Dr. Isaacson in 1965, Dr. Liljenquist limited the practice to small animals. Dr. Frank Markos received his DVM from Colorado State University in 1967 and joined the practice at that time. Dr. Markos became a full partner in January of 1969. The partnership between Dr. Markos and Dr. Liljenquist continued until 1994 when Dr. Markos became the sole owner following Dr. Liljenquist's retirement. Dr. Kathryn Penrod joined Brookside following completion of her DVM degree from Colorado State University in 2000 and became owner following Dr. Markos's retirement in 2004. Dr. Eleanor Jenson joined the practice in 2004 and Dr. Stacey Henderson in 2006, both are graduates of Colorado State University. In 2007, a partnership consisting of Drs. Markos, Penrod, Jenson, and Henderson was formed with the goal of constructing a modern veterinary facility. Construction is now complete on the northeast corner of 7th Street and Wall Avenue. The new facility will accommodate the growth Brookside has experienced over the past years and allow us to continue to provide up-to-date medicine and surgery for our patients and increased comfort and convenience for our clients.
