In 1996 two buddies who had just graduated from college started Kearney Moving as a way to earn extra money.  On a shoestring budget they worked evenings and weekends to meet the demands of their small venture.  Because of their commitment to quality, integrity, and service their business quickly grew into a full-time career.  Current co-owner, Justin Halbgewachs and his wife made the commitment to buy out his buddy's side of the business and go full time.  In 2001, Justin teamed up with moving veteran Dan McElvain who also owned his own moving company.  The merger brought several advantages including becoming an agent for Atlas Van Lines.  Partnering with the third largest van line in the United States gave Kearney Moving the foundation to grow the business on a national level.  Through 2009 Kearney Moving established itself as a prominent mover in central Nebraska.  During this time the company employed approximately 12 employees and operated a fleet of six trucks.  In 2009 Kearney Moving expanded their operation by purchasing 14,000 square feet of warehouse space located on ten acres.  The owners refocused their efforts by investing in team development and improving their marketing strategy.  Within three years Kearney Moving experienced explosive growth with sales increasing by 220%.  In 2015 Justin Halbgewachs became sole owner of Kearney Moving after buying out Dan McElvain.  Dan continues to remain on staff as the company property manager.  Atlas Van Lines has recently awarded Kearney Moving the "World Class Commitment Award" for excelling in customer satisfaction, estimating, accuracy, and claims experience.  Kearney Moving has also been recognized nationally by Atlas Van Lines for superior customer service and sales.  Now Kearney Moving owns and operates a fleet of 12 trucks, employees up to 25 employees, and serves nearly 1000 customers per year.  Kearney Moving is positioned for an exciting future and continues to seek new ways to serve more customers with excellent service.
