Founded in 1989, Asha Family Services, formerly known as Asha Women of Color, a family violence intervention and prevention program and an outpatient mental health and substance abuse treatment facility, is a private, nonprofit spiritually based agency. The agency provides comprehensive family violence and substance abuse intervention for victims and perpetrators of domestic violence that is culturally specific. It offers women s, children s, youth, men and clinical services. Asha Family Services provides therapeutic assistance and supportive rehabilitative activities for the development and refurbishment of daily living skills. It offers diagnostic, psychiatrist, psychological, psychotherapy and substance abuse counseling services. Asha Family Services staff includes a psychiatrist, counselors, nurses and clinical social workers. The agency is funded by several organizations, such as the YWCA and Black Health Coalition of Wisconsin. It is located in Milwaukee.
