American Association of Petroleum Geologists, founded in 1917, is one of the world's largest professional geological societies with more than 30,000 members, comprising geologists, geophysicists, chief executive officers, managers, consultants, students and academicians. It provides publications, conferences and educational opportunities to geoscientists, and disseminates the most current geological information available to the general public. It also offers a wide variety of benefits to its members, including group insurance programs, car rental discounts, membership in a credit union, and a fully outsourced retirement program. The AAPG Foundation was established by AAPG in 1967 to provide a stable source of funding for the association's scientific and educational programs. The organization's Energy Resources Library, a service offered by the AAPG Foundation, provides geological and petroleum exploration research information to geoscientists and other members of the public. American Association of Petroleum Geologists has its headquarters in Tulsa, Okla.
