General Info:

Al’s Cycle has been serving the Bitterroot Valley and beyond since 1964. It all started in Hamilton, MT with Al Englund selling his first Yamaha over forty years ago. The Original Al’s Cycle was located in the town of Hamilton, on the west side of Highway 93 between Pennsylvania Street and Adirondac Street. Al actually started the business as Al’s Building Supply, a lumber yard, and carried Suzuki Motorcycles for the first few years. As the popularity of motorcycles began to increase, Al made the move to Yamaha in the late 60’s. His son Russ, who was in high school at the time, was the only other employee. Russ joined the US Army after high school, and left the Bitterroot Valley to serve his country. When he returned, the business had grown, and Russ made the decision to take it over in 1976. Business was booming, and the valley had attracted enough business to allow for several motorcycle dealerships, carrying all the major brands from Japan and North America. The tough economic times of the early and mid 1980’s hit, and through hard work and the support of a great community, Al’s Cycle managed to continue on, as all the other shops closed. In the late summer of 1993, Al Englund passed away, leaving behind many great memories and closing a chapter in life. The business continued to grow through the 1990’s and early 2000’s, gathering awards, honors, knowledge, and friends. By 2006, Al’s Cycle had grown into one of the largest dealerships in the state. It became apparent that the building that Al and Russ built over the last 40 years, had served its purpose. Construction began on the new Al’s Cycle, and over the 4th of July weekend of 2007, we moved into a new facility. Thus making the years of late nights and days off spent at work worth while. We've begun a new chapter in life here, as we start new explorations and face new challenges. We take great pride in what we do, and how great of a community we’re able to be a part of. If you have a chance, stop by the shop and say hello.
