AlphaVax is a vaccine development company whose core technology is a proprietary viral vector system that supports new vaccines for a broad array of diseases. The company operates a research and development facility in Research Triangle Park, N.C., including a bio-safety level 3 laboratory that focuses on vector design and development, new product research, product and process development, regulatory affairs, GMP manufacturing and technology transfer, clinical development, intellectual property management and business development. AlphaVax has a contract manufacturing relationship with Greer Laboratories that provides access to its GMP BL-3 pilot vaccine production facility. The initial alphavirus vector vaccine technology was developed by collaborating laboratories at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute for Infectious Diseases. AlphaVax has exclusively licensed the patent portfolio from UNC-CH and USAMRIID that supports the current vector platform.
