Alpha School is a coeducational private day facility approved by the New Jersey Department of Education for children with learning disabilities. The school is designed for children between the ages of 3 and 21, and accepts students of any race, color, sex, religion or national origin. It is located in Lakewood, N.J., and serves more than 20 local school districts, representing many of the surrounding counties. Tuition and transportation costs are provided by the local school districts. There are approximately 100 students who have various classifications, including multiply disabled, autistic, communication handicapped, other preschool disabled and neurologically impaired. Alpha School s curriculum includes reading, language arts, mathematics, social studies, physical education, social skills, science, computers, music, art, life skills, career education and transition program. The school provides technologically advanced environment with Internet access, touch screens and computers in every classroom. Additionally, it employs counselors, and speech, occupational and physical therapists.
