Taxidermy is the preserving of an animal's body via mounting (over an armature) or stuffing, for the purpose of display or study. Animals are often, but not always, portrayed in a lifelike state. The Aardvark is a mammalian species that is native to the savannas and grasslands of southern Africa. This is primarily a nocturnal animal that feeds on ants and termites in a strategic feeding pattern. The Aardvark has an average weight of 130-180 lbs and reaches heights of 3.5-4.5 feet. It has dull yellowish-gray color and is commonly red stained because of the soil in its habitat. This is burrowing species meaning it rests underground in dug out tunnels and dens. Once these burrows are vacated they provide necessary shelter for other terrestrial animals making Aardvarks a vital part of the ecosystem. Interestingly enough this animal is highly skilled in swimming even in the strongest of currents.
