A-Treat Bottling Company s sodas are produced virtually the same way they were made when the family-owned business began in 1918, in Allentown, Pa. Recipes for orange, pineapple, grapefruit, red cream soda, birch beer, sarsaparilla and other flavors have remained mostly unchanged from their original soda-fountain predecessors. As sweetener there is an obvious difference between diet and nondiet sweeteners; however, there is a more subtle difference between nondiet types of sweeteners. The company prefers using liquefied pure cane sugar rather than high-fructose corn syrup, but uses both. A-Treat Bottling Company is one of a few soda processors in the United States to still use liquefied cane sugar.
