The Fifteenth District Court Service Unit Fredericksburg Court Service Unit administers intensive probation, detention outreach and electronic incarceration programs. Located in Fredericksburg, Va., the unit also offers field surveillance, drug testing and substance abuse counseling services. It is a part of the Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice, which provides opportunities for delinquent youths to become responsible and productive citizens. The department also provides security and treatment services in several juvenile correctional centers, as well as works with juveniles and their families. Its research and evaluation section manages and supports the department s strategic planning process. The Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice has a staff of more than 2,300 employees. In addition, the department performs quantitative and qualitative analysis of policies, legislative proposals and management initiatives.
