If you are lucky there will be a boat unloading salmon or crab at the dock. It's a cool snapshot of an old industry that is still a major one in Alaska. It's not your typical tourist stop, but well worth the beautiful drive out from town." -- Chris from Ketchikan Built in 1917, Haines Packing Company is the oldest continuously operating business in Haines. Historically one of twelve salmon canneries in the Chilkat Valley, Haines Packing is the last remaining dock and warehouse. Watch fish being unloaded at the dock, see fillets processed through state-of-the-art equipment, and buy fresh fish and gifts at the boardwalk shops.
