The Colony Inn is owned by a long time Alaskan who prides herself in keeping Palmer's history alive and relevant. In 1935, the Matanuska Colony project, a part of President Roosevelt’s New Deal program, brought over 200 families from the drought-stricken Midwest to establish a farming community in Palmer. The restored Colony Inn was built as a teacher’s dormitory. Enjoy a sense of American history while you stay at the Colony Inn and explore the wonderful town of Palmer.
